Rhymefest Charles Hamilton Diss: SuperSonic (Chucky Cheese)

Above: Charles Hamilton, crestfallen after hearing SuperSonic (Chucky Cheese)

I'm not saying there aren't better diss tracks out there but you'll laugh more than a few times at Charles Hamilton's expense.

My Adidas! Walk Through Movie Theatre Doors...

I think the words that came to mind when I found out there was going to be a movie chronicling the rise of the world's first rap supergroup were something along the lines of "Helllllllllll yeaaaaah!" The film will be an adaptation of Bill Adler’s Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run-D.M.C.–The Authorized Biography and none other than Cheo Hodari Coker, the man who wrote the Notorious screenplay, has signed on to do the adapting.

In other Run-D.M.C. news, on April 4th the group will be the second Hip Hop act ever inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The film was just greenlit so there's no previews out yet but here's a classic to hold you over:

Neck Face: Creepin' While You're Sleepin'

Neck Face created his biggest bomb--basically a mural for those of you unfamiliar with graffiti terminology--in LA so far on the wall of the Melrose streetwear store Barracuda.

Neck Face is a renowned graffiti artist known for his distinctly "scary" style. His work has been spotted in California, New York, Australia, Spain, and Japan.

Wale: Good Girls (AEON Remix)

You know you got it made when other people start making hits for you. Wale has got it made. First it was DJ M.A.F. with his superb Justice/Wale mash-up. Now up-and-coming producer AEON, the mind behind Got Beats? Vol. 1, has remixed Good Girls and I have to say, he did a damn good job.

Lupe Fiasco Honored By USA Network

Everyone's favorite backpack rapper, Lupe Fiasco--Sorry Kanye, you should have chilled on the Auto-tune--was named the 2009 winner for the first annual USA Network Character Approved Award in the category of music. The Chicago native was honored along with other culturally relevant individuals such as Jimmy Wales(the founder of Wikipedia) and Shepard Fairey(The artist behind those Obey posters, and The Obama Poster, you know the one.)

Lupe was chosen because he "changing the cultural landscape of his field through innovation, creativity and ingenuity." Plus he raps about giant robots and zombies, which is almost as dope as rapping about old Wu-Tang and Shaolin martial arts movies. Each honoree was given $10,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. Lupe chose, Action Against Hunger.

Hungry for Hip Hop? Try "The Food" by Bliss FM for free

I think part of what's wrong with Hip Hop today is simply that artists and record labels are afraid to try new things. Record companies look at new acts like Bliss FM and say, "Nothing like this has ever sold before, why should we invest in it?" So they go out and get another Lil' Wayne imitator. What all these executives don't seem to realize is that the reason nothing like this has ever sold before is because nothing like this has ever existed before.

KAWS-The Long Way Home Exhibition

Looks like KAWS will be making the trip out to the Left Coast for his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles. Check out the press release below:

“The Brooklyn-based artist will be presenting new painting and sculptural work in his first solo show in Los Angeles. KAWS’ technique acts as a sieve of modern culture, filtering and re-contextualizing the images and information that he comes in contact with daily. His process is all encompassing, embracing popular culture and the visual landscape of the familiar. The work can be thought of as an overarching brand; however it is also immediate and organic. This energetic immediacy can be felt in the selection of works that he is presenting.”

” New large paintings included in the exhibition feature his usual cross-section of familiar cultural icons painted with precise execution. The resulting pieces feature the trademark graphic quality inherent in his work. A large life-size Chum acts as a sentry in the space, watching over the works while also playing with scale and proportion.”

KAWS THE LONG WAY HOME will be running from Feb. 21 to April 4 at the Honor Fraser Gallery.

Jay-Z My President is Black (DC Mix)

Jay-Z's remix of Young Jeezy's Best of the Booth nominated song, My President is Black produced by Tha Bizness. Not only is this song a celebration of one of the greatest moments in American history, but it's also littered with clever wordplay.

Quotable: "My President is black in fact he's half white/So even in a racist's mind he's half right."
