Clean It Up

A delightful little stop-motion video from Goons promoting a cleaner world. I can dig it.

UPSO: Fuel TV

“I wanted to show the excitement I get out of things like riding bikes with friends,” says UPSO. “When life gets too crazy or stressful, it's things like friends and fun that get me out of my funk. It doesn't matter if it's paintbrushes or snowboarding, it's all about expressing yourself. I've always been amazed by the support action sports gives art, from skateboards to t-shirt designs and shoes, it all comes full circle.”

Asbestos: Lost Posters

This is so lame. I've been doing this around the DMV for like a year only I use paper and aerosol glue instead of stickers. Some of the stickers he put up are literally identical to the ones I put up too. It's cool though it gave me an idea for a new poster, "LOST: Creativity"

Building Projections

This is a video of some stunningly beautiful projections done on public buildings, cars, and other objects (pretty much anything that isn't a projection screen)

Walrus TV: David Chong Lee

David Chong Lee paints a sign for a homeless man on Walrus TV. David is just the most recent artist to do so on Walrus TV but also one of the best in my opinion.

Blu x David Ellis: COMBO

Blu (the street artist not the rapper) and painter/filmaker David Ellis have joineed forces to give the world the gift of COMBO. While very similar to MUTO by Blu COMBO includes elements not only of graffiti and animation but sculpture as well. If you haven't seen MUTO though you should check it out because in my opinion its even cooler than this.

What The Fuck?!

This is wrong. No one should ever go to jail for creating art. Granted this kid didn't make very good art and all he did was tag but if he can get EIGHT YEARS in prison alongside rapists and murderers just think what they would do to a real artist for putting up a mural. Eight years! Think about that for a second, I've seen people on the news getting 2 years for sexual assault and it's considered a fair punishment. I think it's time we as citizens reevaluate the reason we have the laws we have. If it was to prevent damage to personal property this kid would get a year and have to pay for damages. I think perhaps creative expression is what they are trying to punish here. I say paint subway cars and if your piece is gone the next day go back and break the train windows, then they can decide if they'd rather have art or vandalism.

Bang-Yao Liu: DEADLINE

This video is so incredibly sick that it's incredibly sick that something this incredibly sick could be made in the first place. Did that make any sense? I hope so. Here's what the artist had to say about the video:
.
"This is my senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. Where my idea comes from is that every time when I am busy, I feel that I am not fighting with my works, I am fighting with those post-it notes and deadline. I manipulated the post-it notes to do pixel-like stop motion and there are some interactions between real actor and post-its."... Bang-Yao Liu

Boxi: To Die For

Here's a great video from Boxi which demonstrates how much work goes into making a photo realistic stencil. Boxi uses 11 hand-cut stencils to create this work of art which represents the blind purity of love.

Brian Snyder: Carlsbad Sidewalk Surfer

This piece by Brian Snyder really demonstrates the interaction between Street Art and the environment it is installed in. The surfer appears to be in different places when viewed from different angles and the surfer is only visible when it's windy.
